AREA CHURCH SERVICES We all know someone who has a heart at- tack. The most common signs are well known. Tight- ening in the chest, left arm pain things that we all may experience from time to time. We tell ourselves it is only a pinched nerve or something we ate and wait to see if our symptoms pass. No one wants to make a trip to the ER just to be told it is indigestion.

Staying updated on other symptoms might help you make the decision that may save your life or the life of someone close to you. Did you know there are many other signs of a heart attack that can easily tell you something right? For men and women, the signs can be and of course being familiar with symptoms is just as important as being in tune with your body when it is trying to tell you something. No two heart attacks are alike, or strike in the same way. Warnings can be subtle, or blatant, but both are just as serious. Common signs of heart attacks are: Chest discomfort: It is the most common sign of a heart attack.

Pressure and tightening of the chest or heavy sitting on your are signs not to ignore. Nausea, indigestion or stomach pain: Vomiting is not out of the question during heart attacks. Women may experience this more than men during a heart at- tack. Heartburn: Yes, it could be something you ate, but knowing this is a symptom and tying it to other symp- toms is something you need to be aware of. Lightheaded or dizzy: This can happen when your blood pressure drops, and your heart is not able to pump the way it should, causing shortness of breath and discomfort.

Jaw pain: Again, add this to the above symptoms with a possible throat pain, and your healthcare pro- vider would tell you to have it checked out. Exhaustion: Do you tire easily? If your heart is weakening due to heart disease this could cause you to exhaust yourself more easily when doing daily tasks that were not a problem before. Sweating: This along with tightness in the chest and arm pain should never be ignored if it is a quick onset of symptoms. Staying on top of your heart health game is impor- tant. Know your numbers and keep your blood pres- sure in check.

Exercise and put in place a heart healthy diet that will keep you not only heart healthy but look- ing good on your scale. Talk with your healthcare pro- vider about any of these symptoms and always call 911 if you feel there is an emergent need. Information from this article taken from webmd.com/heart-disease.
