Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. She died Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at the Highland Ridge Care Center. Burial was at St. Mary's Ceme- tery. Memorials are for St.

Jean Fetzer was born April 7, 1925, in Cedar Rap- ids, the daughter of James H. and Sadie (Carney) Frederick.

She attended and graduated from St. Patrick Catholic School in Cedar Rapids. She went to business school in Cedar Rapids and worked at Iowa Manufacturing as a bookkeeper and an ac- countant before her marriage. Jean married Lester R. Fetzer on April 23, 1949, in Cedar Rapids.

She was a homemaker, raising their eight children on the family farm west of Wil- liamsburg, and later worked for the Amana Society as an clerk retiring in 2000. The couple moved to Williamsburg in 1980 and then to High- land Ridge Presbyterian Home in the spring of 2007. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, knitting, gar- dening, dancing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Ladies VFW Auxil- iary.

Jean is survived by eight children, Michael (Ber- nita) Fetzer, Cedar Rapids; David (Jeannie) Fetzer, Williamsburg; Gerald (Sandy) Fetzer, Marion; Diane (Bob) Embury, Plattsmouth, Kevin (Susan) Fetzer, Lancaster, Sheila (Craig) Stanerson, Williamsburg; Denise (Paul) Gengler, LeMars, and Pamela (Stuart) Stahl, Ankeny; 27 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Cole, Sun City, and Frances Schulte, Amana. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and three sisters, Dolores Frederick, Maxine Meeks and Rita Siedschlag. Jean Fetzer, 93 Funeral service for John VanHamme, 56, Victor, was held at Monday, April 23, at the Smith Fu- neral Home, Victor. He died Wednes- day, April 18, 2018, at his home. Memo- ries and condolences may be shared online at www.smithfh.com. John Peter Van Hamme was born on June 25, 1961, the son of Raymond and Ardis (McKusker) Van Hamme in Marengo.

He was raised in Victor and grad- uated from HLV High School in 1979. John married the love of his life, Donita Clark, on July 15, 1988, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple resided in the Victor area and John worked for many years at the Iowa Department of Transporta- tion. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He dearly loved his family and his many dogs.

He was an outdoorsman, an avid hunter, and mushroom hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going four-wheeling, hunting, playing cards and board games with his family, and sitting around a enjoying a beer or two. John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Donita Van Hamme, rural Victor; his step-daughters, Jamey (Ricky) Jenkins, Bolivar, and Amy (Brian) Long- necker, Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Courtney, Rachel Anne and Bradley Jenkins, Bolivar, Jakob and Emma Longnecker, Belle Plaine; sisters, Sandra Ar- nold, Mary (Ron) McDonald, and Marie Louis; broth- er-in-law, Anthony Schirmer; many nieces and neph- ews; and his faithful dog, General George Patton. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linda and Alice; twin nieces, Amanda and Andrea; and many beloved dogs. John Van Hamme, 56 Graveside service for Marie E.

Griess, 57, Amana was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 19, at the Amana Ceme- tery. She passed away peacefully with her family at her side on April 15, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. Elder Alan Trumpold at the service. Memorials may be made to the Safe Haven of Iowa County or the Amana Church Society. Kloster Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Online condolences may be left at www.klosterfuneralhome.com. Marie Elizabeth Griess was born April 4, 1961, in Ce- dar Rapids, the daughter of Theo and Betty Lou Haas Griess. She graduated from Amana High School in 1979 and was a great athlete. She was an avid sports fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears. She was currently employed by the Amana Meat Shop in Amana and was a lifelong mem- ber of the Amana Church Society.

Marie was a person of not wanting, but rather of giving, especially when it came to her daughter and grandchildren. She was happy and had a very positive attitude that carried on throughout her illness. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. The family would like to especially thank Iowa City Hospice, Paula Welsh, Dean Kinzenbaw Loves for Marie and all the others from for all of their care and support for Marie during her ill- ness. LOVES Marie is survived by her Dean Kinzenbaw Marengo; a daughter, Taylor Griess Sherman and Gerald Long; two grandchildren, Chloe and Caelan Long, Middle Amana; a brother, Lewis, Cedar Rapids; a sister, Joanne, Amana; a nephew, Connor Griess, North Liberty; a sister-in-law, Julie Griess, Williamsburg, and two cats, Tilly and Jack.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a broth- er, John, in 2017, and a nephew, Thaddius Logan Griess. Marie Griess, 57.
