On the advice of the county attorney's office, no charges will be filed by police in the shooting, according to Sgt. Richard Mould. But, he said, "We're sending the whole thing to the grand jury." Vicki Kay Stafford, 22, also known as Vicki Anderson, of 5605 Berwick Road, was shot in the left side about 10:30 p.m. during an argument over a car accident that occurred Friday night in Des Moines. Stafford and two other persons in her -car, Wendell Webb-Bey, 24, whose last known address was 1608 Twelfth St.

and Alberta Sue Fisher, 24, whose address is not known by authorities, stopped a car driven by Steven Klug, 19, of 1622 Lyon St at Ninth Street and College Avenue, police said. Officers said a passenger in Klug's car, David Meyers, 20, of 245 E. Nineteenth St. fled on foot and was pursued temporarily by Webb-Bey. Klug and the two women got into an argument, a gun was produced and Stafford was shot, according to police.

"We believe it was her own gun she got shot with," Mould said. After the shooting, police said, Fisher and Webb-Bey helped Stafford back into her car and drove away but the three was stopped in the 300 block of Forest Avenue by officers who had been notified of the shooting. Police said they recovered a handgun in an alley there and that Stafford had told them she had thrown the gun out of the car.
