Has Home Ready For Wife, Baby A home, furnished and set up for housekeeping, awaits Mrs. Howard McKenzie, New Zealand wife of a Des Moines man, and their 1-year-old daughter, Jo Anne. McKenzie, a laboratory technician at Veterans hospital, Maid Monday hit wife and baby were on the S. S. Monterey, due to land at San Francisco, Tuesday.

The family will live at 118S Bird st. McKenzie was in service 41 months, first in the heavy artillery and later in the medical corps. He met his wife, then Miss Sonya Perl, daughter of a doctor in Auckland, New Zealand, while he was in a hospital there. They were married Dec. 2, 1943.

Mills. Mrs. Florence Buck Treated for Burns Mrs. Florence Buck, 32, of 1225 E. Nineteenth Monday was taken to Broadlawns General hospital by police after an oil tove she was working with in her home suddenly flared, burning her face and hands.

Lieute a Carroll is the son of Paul W. Carroll, Davenport, and Mrs. Hessie L. Carroll.

Bonners CARKWU Ferry, Idaho. His daughter, Judith Ann, 1 year old, was born soon after he went to sea. A graduate of Roosevelt High school, Lieutenant Carroll enlisted in the navy in 1941. After serving as an instructor at Jacksonville and Miami, he was ordered to the Pacific. He was piloting a fighter plane off the aircraft carrier Bennington when he failed to return from a mission over an airfield near Tokyo.

Surviving, besides his widow, daughter, and parents, are a brother Paul, now with the armed forces in Japan and his grandmother, Mrs. B. F. Carroll, 2937 Cottage Grove, with whom he lived in Des Moines.
