a a Helen Elizabeth Harsh, 74, of 7171 N.W. Sixth Drive, Ankeny, died Sunday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. The cause of death is unknown, pending results of an autopsy. The body was cremated and no services are planned. Mrs.

Harsh was born in Fairfield and lived in the Des Moines and Ankeny areas most of her life. She had worked in the public relations department of the Iowa Department of Public Instruction. Survivors include her husband, Wilbert; and a brother, Robert Crane of Ames. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Crippled Children in Minneapolis. Arrangements were handled by Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home.

La Von Burton, 67, of 1546 20th Place died of cancer Sunday at Veterans Medical Center. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery. Mr.

Burton was born in Marshalltown and lived in Des Moines for 47 years, retiring as an auto detailer for Holmes Oldsmobile. He was Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Among survivors are five daughters, Sharon Malone and Linda Burton, both of Minneapolis, Patricia Benson of Portland, Carol Cason of Omaha and Jacqueline Burton of San Francisco; two sons, Larry of Minneapolis and Jeff of Des Moines; and his grandchildren. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Irene McKnight, 61, of Chariton died of cancer Sunday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 2 p.m. at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, and burial will be in Russell Cemetery. Mrs. McKnight, a waitress, was born in Russell and lived in Chariton several years.

She is survived by three sons, Carl of Story City, Doug of Shellsburg and Bob of Malvern, three daughters, Linda McKnight and Minda McKnight, both of Atlanta, and Patty Smith of Russell; a brother, Harold Johnson of Port Charlotte, two sisters, Lois Jones of Ankeny and Shirley Jones of West Des Moines; and 14 grandchildren. Mary Soderberg Waltz Inger, 54, of Ames died of a drug overdose Dec. 21 in Lavendon, England, where she was accompanying her husband, George, on a sabbatical leave. The body was cremated and buried in Memorial Gardens Cemetery there. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m.

Saturday at St. David's Episcopal Church in Ames. Mrs. Inger was born in Greenfield. She had been a music teacher and had worked in the grants and loans department at Iowa State University.

Surviving are her husband and two sons, John Waltz of Parkersburg and James Waltz. THE DES MOINES REGISTER Dorothy I. Anderson, 58, of 1508 E. 23rd St. died of a respiratory ailment Tuesday at home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Avon Cemetery. Mrs. Anderson, a lifelong Des Moines resident, retired from the Champion Glove shipping department and Valley View Village food service department.

She was a member of Norwoodville Open Bible Church. Surviving are her husband, Raymond; a son, Steve, a daughter, Linda Morrow, her parents, Roy and Irene Overton, a brother, Lonnie Overton, and four sisters, Delores Hildreth, Sue Mortensen, Sandy Jacobs and Vicky Mauk, all of Des Moines; and three grandchildren. Gwendolyn Mae Nolte, 69, of Roland died of cancer Saturday at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. The body was cremated and memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bergen Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Nolte was born in Franklin County and moved to Roland in 1974. She retired after 41 years as a bus driver for the Hampton and Roland-Story schools. Surviving are her husband, Rolland; three sons, Thomas and Larry, both of Roland, and Garry of Houston; a brother, Durwood Thomas of Liberty, and three grandchildren. Lenzini was born in Bevier, and lived in Des Moines much of his life. He grew up in Italy and returned to the United States when he was 19. He retired after 29 years with Iowa Pack and five years with Iowa Power and was a member of All Saints Parish and Vitoria Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Fay; two daughters, Dolores Weaver of Littleton, and Norma Jean Van Houten of Des Moines; two sons, Bruno of Ankeny and Frank of Des Moines; a sister, Emma Pagliai of New York; 18 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 9 p.m.

She was a homemaker and a member of College Avenue Christian Church. Among survivors are two daughters, Jeanne Howard of Des Moines and Maralyn Boland of Denver, a son, Jack of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Etta Harris of Webster City; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the care center's activity fund. Katherine Marie Evans, 79, of San Diego died of pneumonia Thursday at Georgian Court Convalescent Hospital there. No services are planned.

Burial of the cremains will be in Glendale Cemetery. Mrs. Evans was born in Des Moines and moved to California 12 years ago. She had been a secretary for the American Red Cross and a tour guide at the governor's mansion. Surviving are two sons, Steve of San Diego and Charles of Charleston, S.C.; and a grandchild.

Thursday at Overton Funeral Home in Burial will be in Liberty Center Cemetery. Mrs. Spencer was born in Liberty Center and lived in Indianola for 16 years, coming from New Virginia. She and her husband formerly owned Spencer Hardware in New Virginia for 10 years and she was a member of New Virginia United Methodist Church. Among survivors are two sons, Russell of Woodburn and Herbert of Hot Springs, a daughter, Mildred Swinford of Keokuk; three sisters, Inez Hess and Velma Newman, both of Indianola, and Helen Hancock of Scottsdale, 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to her church. Ivel Merrill Miller, 67, of Osce- ola died of a heart attack Monday at home. Services will be at 10 a.m.

today at Kale Funeral Home, and burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Mr. Miller was born in New Virginia and lived in Osceola most of his life. He was a retired deputy state auditor and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion post in Indianola, the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Creston, Disabled American Veterans, Eagles and the Military Order of Purple Heart.

Among survivors are his wife, Lou; two daughters, Marsha Waltz of Osceola and Debbie Mercer of Waukee; a son, Stephen of Waukee; three sisters, Veva Clevenger of Romona, Wanda Sargent of New Virginia and Jane Baker of Booneville; a brother, Howard of Indian, ola; and eight grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Clarke County Ambulance. D. Dennis Anderson, 65, of 3416 64th Urbandale, died of a stroke Monday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m.

Thursday at Westover Funeral Home. Burial will be in Villisca Cemetery. Mr. Anderson was born in Genoa, and lived Urbandale 41 years. He was a self carpenter, an Army, veteran of the Korean War a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Acanthus Masonic Lodge in Beaverdale.

Surviving are his wife, Jean; two daughters, Carol Anderson and Charolene Anderson, both of Urbandale; and a brother, Donald of El Paso, Texas. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. James N. White, 92, of State Center died of a heart ailment Monday at State Center Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rhodes United Methodist Church, with burial in Eden Cemetery at Rhodes. Mr. White lived in Rhodes all his life until moving to the care center. He was a retired farmer and member of the Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Rex and Carroll, both of Rhodes; two daughters, Garnita Seward of Eldora and Goldia Canutt of Newark, two. brothers, Wilbur of Twodot, and John of Phoenix, 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Baxendale was born in Norwalk and had lived in Ackworth since 1939. He was a retired dairy farmer and former coal miner and carpenter. He was a member of Christian Union Church in Indianola. Surviving are his wife, Theima; two daughters, Ruth Anderson of Ackworth and Linda Hein of Crane, two brothers, Howard of Montevallo, and Marvin of Arroyo Grande, two sisters, Elsie Pyle of Northern Hills, and Martha Crow of Marshalltown; nine grandchildren; and nine grandchildren. She also was a hospice and Birthright volunteer. Surviving are her husband; a son, Jason of Ames; a sister, Sandra Hostetter of Nevada; and a brother, Joseph Hostetter of Heeney, Colo.
