8A Wednesday, April 8, 2009 State Edition The Des Moines Register NEVA MAE BARKER Nevada Neva Mae Barker, 78, of Nevada, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1110 11th Nevada, Iowa at 10:30 a.m., April 10, 2009. Neva was born November 2, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of William B. and Edna T.

(Shaw) Squire. She grew up in Des Moines and attended Lincoln High School. Neva and Howard R. (Pat) Barker were married February 21, 1950 in Nevada, Iowa. They settled on acreage South of Nevada and were blessed with four children, Mike, Steve, Linda and Danny.

Neva was employed by R.H. Donnelly in Nevada and 3 in Ames, where she retired in 1990. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada, the Harley Owners Group, a Charter member of the Route 65 HOG chapter, and a supporter of the Des Moines Race for the Cure. Neva enjoyed motorcycles, gardening and flowers, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Neva was a loving mother and grandmother, and a special friend to all who knew her. Those left to cherish Neva's memory are her children, Mike (Barb) Barker of Pilot Mound, Iowa; Steve (Karen Creager) Barker of Des Moines, Iowa; Linda (Tom) Hackett of St. James, Minnesota; and Danny Barker of Maxwell, Iowa; Her sisters, Thelma (Ken) Way of Madison, Alabama; Lillis Lewis of Gatesville, Texas and her brother, Butch (Carol) Dennis of Norwalk, Iowa; Grandchildren; Mandy Barker, Ryan (Lauren) Barker and Tommy Hackett. She is also survived by numerous extended family members including very special nieces and nephews. Neva was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Clarence Dennis of Des Moines and her husband, Howard Barker on September 23, 1991.

The family will greet friends Thursday, April 9, at the Chet Ryan Funeral Home, 708 Fifth Nevada, IA, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service and rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Ankeny Funeral Home Dignity and Crematory LARRY ASCHAN Spring Hill Larry was born March 10, 1938 and went to meet the Lord on April 3, 2009. Larry was united in marriage to his soul mate Donna (Rinard) on February 1, 1955.

To this union were six children. Larry was a loving outdoorsman. He was a cement mason for 50 plus years. Larry is survived by his wife Donna of 54 years, sons Nolan of Spring Hill, Roger (Ronda) of Murray, Kelly (Sherri) of Murray, two daughters Michelle Teeslink, of Indianola, and Robin (Stanley) Drake of Spring Hill, 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, brother Terry (Margaret) of Des Moines. He was proceeded in death by his parents Carl W.

and Inez (Patterson) Aschan, brothers Carl R. Aschan and Ted A. Aschan, a son Clint D. Aschan and granddaughter Mashara M. Aschan.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Brooks Funeral Care MARGARET V. HAMILTON West Des Moines Margaret Hamilton, 89, passed away on April 3, 2009 at Mercy Hospice-John ston.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 10 at the West Des Moines Christian Church, 4501 Mills Civic Parkway. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd, Clive. Burial will be at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney, Iowa.

Margaret was born November 4, 1919 in Des Moines to Frank and Jessie (McConnachie) Green. She graduated from North High School at the age of 14. She worked for two years at her uncle's restaurant until she moved to Sigourney, IA and went to work at the Ford Garage. She met Bruce Hamilton while in Sigourney and they were married in 1939. They moved to Des Moines in 1941 when Bruce worked at the Ordinance Plant.

In 1945 both she and Bruce went to work at Firestone. Margaret retired in 1977, after 32 years of service, the last 19 years as the Plant Manager's secretary. She was a member of the West Des Moines Christian Church for over 50 years. Margaret will be missed by her sons, Gary (Norma) Hamilton, West Des Moines; Bob (Kathleen) Hamilton, Mesilla, NM; six grandchildren, Kevin (Mindy) Hamilton, Evergreen, CO; Karin Hamilton, West Des Moines; Lara (John) Fischer, Dallas, TX; Alison Hamilton, Albuquerque, NM; Stacey (Chris) Jones, San Clemente, CA; Tracy (Jamie) Foreman, Garden Grove, CA; six randchildren; her brothers, Frank (Abbie) Green, Urbandale and Herb (Marilyn) Green, Independence, MO; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bruce; her parents; brother, Jerry Green, and an infant daughter, Ellen Marie.

SEIBERT Grimes Clarence Seibert, 98, died Tuesday, April 07, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at St.

Peter Lutheran Church in Grimes, with burial to follow at Sunny Hill Cemetery Clarence was born in Grimes, attended Seibert Country School and graduated from Grimes High School. He married Ida Mae Cone on November 23, 1936 and they lived and farmed the family farm near Grimes for 61 years. Clarence's favorite tractor was Massey-Harris and he really enjoyed working with horses and mules. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and was a passionate fan of the St.

Louis Cardinals. Clarence is survived by his children, Twila Seibert of Winterset, Patricia Callison of Indianola, Darryl (Linda) Seibert of Waukee and Della (Larry) Burgus of Woodward; three grandchildren, Patrick Callison of West Virginia, Andrew Burgus of Chicago and Aaron Burgus of Seal Harbor, Maine; one greatgrandchild, Andrea Callison of West Virginia; his sister, Mildred Hampton of Sandwich, Illinois and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Ida Mae Seibert and his siblings, Glenn Seibert, Hulda Kohls, Earl Seibert and Irene Taylor. Visitation begins after 3 p.m. Thursday at Iles Funeral Homes-Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Thursday, April 9 at Salem United Church of Christ, Alleman. A gathering of friends and family is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at Soderstrum Riis Funeral Home, Slater. Meta Elaine Schonhorst was born July 3, 1917 in Eldon, IA to Francis and Etta (Cavanaugh) Gregorie. She married William Schonhorst May 1, 1945.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards, camping, ballroom dancing, gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Janice (Don) Wegerlehner of Clay City, IN; Karen Schonhorst of Nevada; Steven (Chris Jones) Schonhorst of Slater; Robyn (LeRoy) Lutjen of Nevada; ten grandchildren and sixteen grandchildren. Meta was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1991; her sister, Margaret Gregorie, and brothers, William Gregorie and Frank Gregorie. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. BARBARA (0'NEAL) BURNHAM Clive Clive Barbara Burnham, 76, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, at Kavanagh House on 56th Street from cancer.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Windsor United Methodist Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Barbara was born in Valley Junction, IA and gradurated from Valley High School. She married William (Bill) Burnham in 1957, and they lived in the California Bay Area for 30 years before moving to Clive in 1988. Barbara worked at a Des Moines insurance agency for a few years and was a member of Windsor United Methodist Church.

Barbara is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Burnham; daughter, Diane (Charles) Robinson of Sorento, IL; son, Paul (Colleen) Burnham of Tracy, CA; grandsons, Bryan and Nicholas Burnham; and six siblings, Donald (Evelyn) O'Neal of Kennewick, WA, Virgel (Warren) Myer of Norwalk, Elsie (Charles) Wilbert of Des Moines, Melvin (Beverly) O'Neal of West Des Moines, Robert O'Neal of West Des Moines and Guy O'Neal of Indianola. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Tony O'Neal. Visitation will be from 10 AM until service time Friday at the church. Meko (Frank) Martin, Ankeny, la. Her nephews Clint (Jenny) Robinson, Waukee, la. Lance (Traci) Andre, Dubuque, la. Son in law Matthew Hogan, Des Moines, la. Eleven Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren.

After her retirement from PDI Marie enjoyed being with family and friends. Taking care of her granddaughter Hannah Hogan was one of her greatest pleasures, along with participating in military families and making military comfort quilts. She was an active member of Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Church. She liked feeding her birds and watching Speedy Gonzalez. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m.

MARCHANT Adel Cleta Dell Marchant, 78, daughter of Aaron and Zola Bennett Marchant passed away at home near Adel on April 6, 2009. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Dodge Township Cemetery near Bagley. Friends may call after 2 Wednesday at the p.m. funeral home where family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Cleta was born September 6, 1930 in Greene County and attended schools in Bayard. She and her sister Jenith chose to stay and care for their parents. She worked 24 years at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. She enjoyed her pets and gardening immensely.

She was always cheerful and ready to help anyone at anytime. She is survived by her sisters, L. Belle Marchant of Pleasant Hill, Thelma Lee of Seward, NE, Betty Wood of Taopi, MN, one brother, Melvin Marchant of North Platte, NE, and many nieces and nephews. Cleta is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Marie Kinnick, Zelda Monroe, Jenith Marchant, two brothers, 1 Rex Marchant, and Lindsay Marchant. SAMANTHA EVA GRESS Des Moines Samantha Gress died April 3, 2009 at her home i De Moines. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home. She is survived by her husband Michael, mother and father Kathy and Floyd Countryman. William L.

Fairbank Des Moines William L. Fairbank passed away on Monday, April 6, 2009 due to complications from cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 13, at St. Augustin Catholic Church immediately followed by a funeral luncheon.

Private burial will be at a later time at Resthaven Cemetery. Bill was born on December 17, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960 then attended Drake University where he served as student body president and became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Drake in 1964 and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Drake Law School in January of 1966. Bill enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an attorney in Des Moines, most recently as a partner in the Whitfield and Eddy Law Firm for the past 25 years.

Included among his many civic and professional contributions Bill served on the Board of Directors of Living History Farms. He was chairman of the board during the capitol campaign which resulted in the construction of the visitor's center and other buildings at the Farms. Bill was a member of the Polk County, lowa, and American Bar Associations as well as a member and past president of the Lincoln Inne. He was also a member of the Transportation Lawyers Association and Chairman of the Board of Examiners of Shorthand reporters. As a parishioner of St.

Augustin Church he served as a song leader for more than a decade. Bill brought enthusiasm and commitment to everything in which he was involved. His vitality enhanced the lives of all those around him. Throughout his many accomplishments, Bill's number one priority was his family. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory include his high school sweetheart and wife of 45 years, Joleen (Wolf); son Rob (Mary Ann) Fairbank of Denver, CO; daughter Deanna (Jeff) Lane of West Des Moines; and four grandchildren, Christopher and Will Fairbank and Shelby and Colin Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents; Earl and Jessie Fairbank and sister Karen Peterson.
