Fritz, 83, of the 100 block of Alpine Drive in West Des Moines died of complications of Alzheimer's disease Saturday at Kavanagh House on Grand in West Des Moines. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fontanelle United Methodist Church in Fontanelle, with burial at Fontanelle Cemetery. Mr.

Fritz was born in Fontanelle and had lived in Greenfield before moving to the Des Moines area in 1984. He was a retired farmer and maintenance worker at the Adair County Memorial Hospital and the Franklin Court Apartments in Des Moines. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion and enjoyed dancing and riding horses. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Larry of Marshalltown; two daughters, Linda Syvertsen of Atlantic and Janice Follmann of Massena; three stepsons, Steve Eshelman of Winterset, Craig Eshelman of Bridgewater and Jerry Eshelman of Greenfield; two stepdaughters, Cindy Schildberg of Greenfield and Debby Manning of Leawood, a sister, Rosemary Bowers of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Randall of Chula Vista, six grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and six step-greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leota.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Westover Funeral Home and an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Kavanagh House on Grand. RUTH WIEGAND Pella Ruth L. Jones Wiegand, 63, of Pella died of complications of diabetes Saturday at Pella Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pella, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery near Monroe. Mrs.

Wiegand was born in Mitchell, and had lived in the Oskaloosa and Pella areas since 1976. She was a retired homemaker and volunteer for Share lowa and Work of Our Hands. She is survived by her husband, William; two daughters, Cathryn Segur of Rome, and Karen Van Walbeek of Pella; a son, Leroy of Peru, two sisters, Loretta Worthen of Mitchell, and Violet Clifton of Edwardsville, and five grandchildren. Raymond Long 81, of Newton died of cancer Thursday at Skiff Medical Center there. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Newton, with burial at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Long was born in Silver City and had lived in Newton since 1942.

He was a retired surgical waiting room family coordinator at Skiff Medical Center, an Army veteran of World War I1, and a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge, the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also had been director of the Jasper County Veterans Affairs office, manager of the American Red Cross of Jasper County, director of the Jasper County Disaster Service and project manager of the Jasper County Congregate Meals program. A granddaughter, Angela Backman of Apple Valley, survives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna. Friends may call after 1 p.m.

Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Mr. Stewart had lived in Des Moines all of his life. He was a retired housekeeper at Veterans Medical Center in Knoxville, an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed country music.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia; a daughter, Toni Stewart of Des Moines; his mother, Lucy Grundman of Altoona; two sisters, Janice Clemens of Branson, and Dorothy Phipps of Boone; and two brothers, Donald of Clive and Duane of Runnells. Mrs. Kieler had lived in Des Moines all of her life until moving to Bevington 10 years ago. She was a retired production worker at EMCO Industries and a member of the Jordan United Methodist Church and Blue Star Mothers.

She enjoyed cooking and reading. She is survived by three sons, William of Des Moines, Michael of Swan and Richard of Bevington; a daughter, Lauretta Kaplan of Coloma, 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchild. KATHRYN ALDRICH Winterset Kathryn Aldrich, 87, of Winterset died of a heart ailment Saturday at Winterset Care Center North there. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel, with burial at Waukee Cemetery in Waukee. Mrs. Aldrich was born in Booneville and had lived in Redfield and West Des Moines before moving to Winterset four years ago.

She was a retired waitress at several restaurants in Redfield, Adel and De Soto and a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She is survived by two daughters, Charlene Stapes of Des Moines and Saundra Hill of Kansas City, a sister, Frances Shiffer of Indianola; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert. Friends may call after 2 p.m.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.

Mrs. Weigel was born in Decatur, 1 and had lived in Boone most of her life. She was a retired homemaker and did alterations for a dry-cleaning business. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. She is survived by a stepson, Lawrence Weigel of Boone; 17 grandchildren; 21 great and eight great-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jospeh Sandon and Ernest Weigel. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone, where a vigil service will be at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tuesday at the funeral home. JOHN VRBAN Melcher John Vrban, 71, of Melcher-Dallas died of cancer Friday at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital in Knoxville. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Mosher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Burial of the cremains will be at Dallas Cemetery in Melcher-Dallas.

Mr. Vrban was born in Knoxville and had lived in Melcher-Dallas all of his life. He was a retired nurse's aide at the Veterans Medical Center in Knoxville, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, the National Tractor Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by a son, Joe of Melcher-Dallas; three daughters, Jan Woodruff of Columbus, Ohio, Debbie Rollins of Bremerton, and Connie Ogden of Ventura, a brother, Gregory of Pleasantville; a sister, Eva Hunget of Indianola; 12 grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace.

DALLAS BORKOWSKI Audubon Dallas Roy Borkowski, 76, of Audubon died of a heart ailment Saturday at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon, of which he was a member.

Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. Mr. Borkowski was born in Audubon County and had lived in the area all of his life. He was a retired farmer and cattle shipper, a member of Operation T-Bone and was the Audubon County Fair horse superintendent for many years. He is survived by a son, Steven of Audubon; three daughters, Connie Casson of Council Bluffs, and Sandra Koch and Jill Weihs, both of Audubon; two sisters, Delores Knudsen of Audubon and DeEtta Rasmussen of Fort Madison; and nine grandchildren.

VIRGINIA McDERMOTT Newton Virginia F. McDermott, 83, of Newton died of a heart ailment Friday at Skiff Medical Center there. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, of which she was a member. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. McDermott was born in Newton and had lived there most of her life. She was a retired secretary at Vernon Co. in Newton and for the state of lowa, a member of the Newton Elks Lodge and active in the Newton retired senior volunteer programs. She is survived by three sons, Larry of Rosemount, Ron of Newton and John of Newport Beach, Calif; a daughter, Marvene Funnell of Dell City, a brother, Les Yancey of Newton; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

McDermott Memorial Fund or her church. MARCIA BIRKENHOLZ Le Mars Marcia Ann Birkenholz, 64, of Le Mars died of a heart ailment Saturday at Floyd Valley Hospital there. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Church of the Brethren in Prairie City, with burial at the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Miss Birkenholz was born in Des Moines and had lived here most of her life before moving to Le Mars about two years ago.

She was involved in a semi-independent living program for the mentally handicapped, worked through Plymouth Life Care and Work Program, and was a member of Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. She enjoyed animals. A sister, Delores Maser of Le Mars, survives. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, where the family will be present after 6 p.m.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, with burial at Lower Blue Point Cemetery near Grinnell. Mrs. Hasley was born in Madison County and had lived in Searsboro and New Sharon before moving to Montezuma a year ago. She was a retired homemaker, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Montezuma, the Bunker Hill Booster Club and Loyal Daughters, and she enjoyed baking bread and volunteering at the New Sharon congregate meal site.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jo Watson and Barbara Long, both of Montezuma, and Carolyn Jontz of South Pasadena, two sons, Wayne of Searsboro and Ray of Lynnville; a sister, Darlene Shannon of New Mexico; a stepsister, Elizabeth Creger of Arizona; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd. GORDON FOSTER Fort Dodge Gordon A. Foster, 81, of Fort Dodge died of a heart ailment Friday at Trinity Regional Medical Center there. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge. Burial, with military rites, will be at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge.

Mr. Foster was born in Clarion and had lived in Webster City before moving to Fort Dodge in 1953. He was a retired pharmacist at the Fort Dodge Medical Center, Olson Drug in Fort Dodge and at Williams Drug in Webster City, and he was a crossing guard at Cooper School. He was an Army veteran of World War and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Fort Dodge. He is survived by his wife, Flora Lea; two daughters, Jane Boyle of Marshalltown and Barb Jerome of Emmetsburg; two brothers, John and Verne, both of Webster City; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. HELEN BATES Grinnell Helen E. Bates, 91, of Grinnell died of a heart ailment Friday at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Tuesday at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial at the 1.0.0.F. Cemetery there. Mrs. Bates was born in Altamont, and had lived in Indianola before moving to Grinnell in 1995. She was a retired teacher with the Indianola school district and a member of First United Methodist Church in Indianola.
