ALMANAC OBITUARIES OBITUARIES ODELL WALTER Odell Walter, 88, of 104 Fourth St. S.W., Altoona, died of pneumonia Friday at Des Moines General Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Altoona Funeral Home. Burial will be in Altoona Cemetery.

Mrs. Walter was born in Indiana and lived in Altoona most of her life. She retired as a LinoODELL type operator for WALTER the Altoona Herald. She was a member of Altoona Christian Church and Altoona Kitchen Band. Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette Sharp of Altoona and Carolyn Arrowood of Des Moines; a sister, Gladys Goodpasture of Altoona; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

died of a heart ailment Saturday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dunn's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Mrs.

May was born in rural Dallas County. She lived in Perry and moved to Des Moines in 1937. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her husband, H. Edson; two sons, Howard of Hoffman Estates, and Charles of West Des Moines; a daughter, Patti Christensen of West Des Moines; a sister, Ester Abbey of Des Moines; and seven grandchildren.

Thornburg, 66, of Bagley died of a heart attack Friday at Dallas County Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Church of Christ, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Dodge Township Cemetery in Guthrie County. Mr.

Thornburg was born in Bagley, where he lived most of his life. He was a retired farmer and truck driver. He was a member of Elks Lodge in Perry. Surviving are his wife, Alberta; two daughters, Peggy Irons of Carlisle and Sally Parker of Ankeny; a son, Rick of Linden, a sister, Arlene Galloway of Des Moines; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson is handling arrangements.

GLADYS M. OMEN Gladys M. Omen, 83, of 3663 Grand Ave. died of pneumonia Saturday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Burial of the cremains will take place at a private graveside service at a later date in Red Oak Cemetery.

Miss Omen was born in Essex and lived in Des Moines many years. She had owned Fashion Bazaar and had run the French Room in Younkers for many years. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. Surviving is a sister, Charlene Perryman of Pittsburgh, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Des Moines Art Center.

Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery, Mrs. Stilwell was born in Mahaska County, She lived in Minnesota and Michigan before moving to Knoxville in 1967. She had taught school in Hamilton and Lovilia five years and in Saginaw, many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Lula Mae Long of Des Moines; three sons, Bernard of Lovilia, Clifford of Roseburg, and Dale of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Indianola 1.0.0.F. Cemetery there. Mr. Sandin was born in Des Moines. He had farmed in Lucas County many years.

He moved to Indianola before moving to Des Moines three years ago. Surviving is a brother, Roger of Des Moines. Schakel was a lifelong resident of Pella. He farmed for 56 years and had worked for Rollscreen Co. Surviving are his wife, Henrietta; three daughters, Rosalee Van Vark of Pella, Mary Jo Pagitt of Hannibal, and Elaine Stafford of St. Louis, a son, Jerome, and a brother, Gradus, both of Pella; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Skarshaug was born in Ames. He lived in various states and in Douglas, a year before returning to Ames. He was an instructor at Georgia State College in Douglas, Ga. He was a member of Mycological Society of America, Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, Gamma Sigma Delta and Kappa Delta Pi.
