By JACK HOVELSON A 21-year-old man arrested Sunday in Arlington, is a prime suspect in the murder of a former Mason City, woman, according to police in the Washington, D.C., suburb. Although Chander Matta of Arlington has been charged only with the murder of another woman, a police source said his arrest has closed the cases on the May 27 slaying of Sandra Johnson, 20, an Arlington resident who was from Mason City, and the murder of a teen-ager in an adjoining suburb. Johnson's body was discovered at her apartment by a friend. She had been asphyxiated, as were Sherry Larman, 26, and Jody Phillips, 16. Matta was charged Sunday night with the murder of Larman.

Evidence in the Johnson and Phillips murders is being turned over to an Arlington County grand jury, which will determine if Matta will be charged with either or both of those killings.
