Marlene wrote: "The first chapter of my life story began on Oct. 28, 1941, 1 when I was born in Madison, Wis.

I spent the first six years of my life in Madison and the next year in Tucson, Ariz. "The remaining years of my life I have spent around the Cedar Rapids area. I attended Mount Vernon High school and Lisbon High School. This year I am finishing my senior year through American Correspondence School "I like to observe the attitudes of children when faced with unusual situations. I am mostly interested in the contrast of people of the same environment.

In comparison of people, I enjoy observing animals. Enjoyed Dances "Most of my leisure time is spent in association with ple. I enjoy all dances or group activities. I also enjoy church activities. "I love to see people working together for a common purpose, and in church work, this is possible.

"Music dominates much of my leisure time. I like to listen to all type of music and all types of orchestras. I like to see and feel the moods that certain music can put one person or a group of people into, "It also amazes me how al group of variously pitched instruments can blend together so pleasingly. "I felt that I had really accomplished something worth all my effort, when I gave so many people So much pleasure.

'My home life is as acceptable as any child could wish. "I have chosen Cornell College because it is the college that I feel I can accomplish and profit the most from attending." A college official who remembers interviewing Marlene said the girl gave him the "impression she quit Lisbon High School because she wasn't fully accepted by her school mates." Marlene's mother said she quit so she could work and earn money toward financing her college career at the same time she was taking correspondence courses.

No Reasons William Mullenberg, Lisbon High School principal, said Marlene gave, no reason for quitting school. She was an average student in most subjects, but was above average in English, Mullenberg said. "She was pleasant, attrac- tive, mature and got along well with the world," Mullenberg said. Marlene did not have "too many close friends" or even one "single best girl friend" at Lisbon's school, Mullenberg said. Her aspirations to be an actress were indicated by her desire to land a part in a Cedar.

Rapids Community Theater play and her plans to study drama and psychology at Cornell. "She was always looking for a deeper meaning in things," her mother said. "To the outside world she may have appeared to be a frivolous teen-ager, but not to those who knew her. "She was embarrassed by praise. She felt she could i influence people to do things she wanted them to." In her college application Marlene said the latest books she read were "Marjorie Morningstar" and "Not As A Stranger." In life, Marlene never achieved the acting prominence of the heroine of "Marjorie Morningstar." daughter had natural brown Mrs.
