M. THURSDAY Summary--- Wednesday, cloudiness continued over Iowa dimming the sun to some extent, but even so temperatures reached a little higher levels in most sections. Mid-afternoon readings ranged from the upper 70s northwest to the upper 60s along the Mississippi river. The high-pressure system that was responsible for the Iowa weather of the last two days was centered Wednesday afternoon over northern Indiana. With the departure of this system, a series of weak low-pressure cells will begin moving across Iowa, but will bring little in the way of precipitation until late this afternoon or tonight and Friday.

Temperatures will continue with a slight upward trend until turning cooler Saturday. Highs today will be mostly in the 70s. Forecasts. FOR THURSDAY, MAY 12, 1935. LOCAL- Partly cloudy today.

The event will be held in the university auditorium at 4 p. m. and is open to the public. More than 400 grade-school students in West Des Moines. armed with junior fire marshal cards and inspection blanks, will comb their neighborhoods this summer in search of fire hazards. They are taking part in a fireprevention program- believed to be the first of its kind in Iowa -under the joint sponsorship of Solar Aircraft Co. and the West Des Moines volunteer fire department. The junior fire marshal cards are being passed out this week to students, mainly fifth and sixth graders, at the four schools participating Sacred Heart Parochial, West Des Moines Elementary, Clover Hills and Junior High. classes have been held Five, school, starting early in April, A sixth will be held this fall, featuring a poster contest, and the course will end with presentation of awards to students during fire prevention week, starting Oct. 2. Typical of the classes was an hour-long session at Clover Hills Wednesday, Half a dozen of the 50 pupils assembled in the auditorium were called to the stage for an impromptu round-table discussion of the question: "What should be done with old oily rags?" EPISCOPALIANS HOLD ELECTION Des Moines Register Page May 12, Waterloo. PRISONERS REVOLT. MEXICO CITY, MEXICO -Prisoners in two cell blocks of the federal penitentiary revolted Wednesday, protesting what they called unfair treatment by the prison director. Trustees, councils and delegates were elected Wednesday afternoon at the annual convention of the Episcopal diocese of Iowa at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

The convention also voted to hold its 1956 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at convention Council Bluffs. The convention dates will be May 8 and 9. Delegates were elected to the next triennial conference, which will be Sept. 4 to 15, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
