'Shepherd of the Hills' Comes to the Screen Disney's Dreams 'Miami' Love Team Woods Band Opens Tuesday at Riviera Eight million persona who have read "Tho Shepherd of the Hills" can soon see it on the screen. Harold Bell Wright's famous story opens Friday at the Paramount and Roosevelt theaters.

Top billing in the movie adaptation of the novel goes to John Wayne, Betty Field and Harry Carey. Carey has the role of Daniel Howitt, the "Shepherd of the Briefly, the story in about a yiung girl who withholds her love from her unruly mountain suitor because of a violent urge he has to find and kill the man he believes destroyed his mother's life. A featured role is played by James Barton, famous as the Jeeter lister of 'Tobacco Road" on the stage. He is cast as Old Matt.
