Per her request, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. hirley had resided in I owa for 40 years and een a aide for the I ndianola Good Samaritan for 27 years.

Care taking was her life. She is survived by four children, Sandy Constant of Pensacola, Cindy (Charlie) Simpson of Indianola, Allen (Denise) Sutton of San Antonio, Texas, and Mark (Lisa) Sutton of I ndianola; brother, Don- a ld (Bonnie) Withers of Thornton, sister, Ruth (Norm) Blair of Denver, 11 grandchildren, 14 great- randchil- ren and ive great- reat- grandchildren. Shirley May Anders, 79, Indianola Shirley Anders Sam Ervin, formerly of ilo, Iowa, passed away an.

25, 2015, in Portland, re. Sam was born in Albert Lee, in 1947 and moved with his parents to Milo, Iowa, in 1951. He graduated from Southeast Warren in 1965 and attended the University of Iowa and graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in psychology. He lived in Hawaii for many years building and repairing boats then moved to Chino Valley, where he was a carpenter and built and remodeled homes. He moved to Portland, in 2008.

He is survived by his mother, Mary E. Ervin, Clive, IA; sister, Mary B. Ervin, West Des Moines, I niece, Kate Ganges- ad, Omaha, NE; nephew, rent Gangestad (Erin), Urbandale, IA; grand nephew, Griffin Bertholf, Omaha, NE; uncle, Richard (Charlene) Ervin, El Cajon, CA; aunt, Faye Mark, Inverness, FL; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ervin, grandparents Glen and Verl Ervin, Milo, IA; and Loyd and Dott Williams, Humeston, IA; aunt and uncle, Marty and Jim Ford of Indianola, IA; and aunt and uncle, Betty and Harold Williams of Humeston, IA. A private burial service will be held at a later date.

Sam Ervin, 67, Portland, formerly of ilo Janice Lee Marker was born Dec. 8, 1936, to David oodrow Langford and Beulah (Rouse) Langford in Iowa City, Iowa. She ost her short term battle with leukemia, Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at the Unity Point Health in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 78 years. Janice attended her school years in Lucas, I owa.

She was the graduating class of 1954 valedictorian at the Lucas High School. On May 7, 1955, she married Doyle Marker and to this union five boys were born: James, Clinton, Dave, Don and Ron. career was in data entry. She retired from the Deflecta Shield Company in Corydon, Iowa. In her spare time, Janice would enjoy watching her children and baseball and oftball games.

She also attended a few football ames of her boys as they were growing up. Work- i ng outside with her flower gardens was also a reat joy for her. She loved to be outdoors and would feed any animal that she crossed aths with. Whether it be a bird or raccoon, she would make sure they were fed. Janice was preceded in death by her parents: David Langford and Beulah (Rouse) Goff; her husband, Doyle Marker; her brother, Ted Goff; and her son, Clinton L.

Marker. She is survived by her children: James (Linda) Marker of Des Moines, Iowa, Dave (Shelly) Marker of Winterset, Iowa, Don Laurie) Marker of Indianola, Iowa, and Ron (Cin- y) Marker of Bondurant, Iowa; her siblings: Robert a Mark of Des Moines, Iowa, Jackie Langford of Savannah, Carolyn lowser of Corydon, Iowa, and Barb Ewing of Knoxville, Iowa, Weston Langford and Edgar Langford of Des Moines, Iowa, and Terry Langford of Humeston, Iowa; seven grandchildren and three reat-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and close friends. Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at the Fielding Funeral Home located in Chariton, Iowa, with Jack Langford officiating. Visitation took place from 2 to 4p.m., Sunday, Feb.

Laura Ellen Phillips, 85, Martensdale Laura Phillips Roger D. Ralston, age 7 1, of Lancaster, assed away on Tuesday, eb. 24, 2015, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born on Nov. 23, 1943, the on of Wayne and Carol Kleinfelter) Ralston, in aterloo, Iowa.

He graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1962. Roger furthered his education a Morningside College and Iowa State Univer- ity. He lived in Indianola, Iowa and Lancaster the majority of his life. Roger is a retired farmer and fertilizer salesman. He had a deep love for ani- als of all kinds, especially Angus cattle, dogs and ats.

Roger was an active participant and sponsor in AA, having just celebrate 32 years with the friends of Bill W. and Dr. Bob. He was an active ember in Calvary Community Church and had a trong friendship with many at the church. Rog- participated in many ocal organizations and roups including: antique ractor rides, Grant County Ass ociation, a nd support- many athletic events at the Lancaster igh School.

He njoyed his time spent in the fall at Vesperman Farms giving rides in the pumpkin patch. Survivors include his on, Michael Wayne (Chris) Ralston, Chaska, grandchildren: Kasey and Shelby; a sister, Marcyne Heitman, Pensa- ola, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his pare nts, Roger was preceded in death by an infant rother, Gary Ralston and mother, Judy. uneral services were eld on Friday, Feb. 27, 2 015, at 11a.m.

24, 2 015, at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines. Joe was born on March 5, 1936, in Decatur County to Harvey and Belva (Harris) Worden. He was a graduate of Leon High School where he participated in football and track. On July 20, 1956, Joe married Kay Darrah from Chariton. The couple lived in Des Moines then moved to Indianola in 1962.

To this union, two daughters were born, Julie and Deb. Joe worked for Vy Lactos Laboratories and Pharm Tech International for a combined 50 years. Joe cherished life and had many interests. He enjoyed working on cars as well as watching car races. liked being outdoors, gardening, doing yard ork, walking and riding his bike.

Joe loved country usic, especially the steel guitar. He and his family made quite a few trips to Branson and Nashville to ee country music shows. Joe was an avid sports fan, ith the Hawkeyes, Cyclones and Chicago Bears among his favorites. Family was great- st love. He enjoyed at- ending his and events and activities.

Family vac ations and family gatherings were a big part of his life. Joe is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Kay, of Indianola; daughters, Julie (Steve) Bradshaw of Johnston and Deb (Lyle) Ziskovsky of Dallas Center; sisters, Phyllis Barry of Urbandale and Pam Worden of Urbandale; brother, Max (Beverly) Worden of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren Melissa (Jamel) Crawford of Des Moines, Scott (Elizabeth) Gates of Des Moines, April (Adam Bartelt) Zisk ovsky of Des Moines, Jill (Tyler) Halcomb of Wauk ee and Kelli (Mark) Holan of Prairie City; great- randchildren Brooke Keller and Jace Crawford. Joe Worden, 78, Indianola Joe Worden Traci Lea May, 45, of Indianola, passed away peacefully Feb.

22, 2015, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa, after a 14- month battle against cancer. Visitation was held on hursday, Feb. 26, 2015, rom 4 to 8 p.m. with fam- i ly present 5:30 to 8 p.m. at verton Funeral Home in Indianola.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at the Indianola First Assembly of God Church with burial at Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Traci was born June 28, 1969, in Des Moines, Iowa, Gary and Linda (Blackf ord) May.

She graduated rom Southeast Warren High School in 1988. Traci as blessed with two children: Ashley and Travis; as well as two grandchildren: Mayson and Benjamin. Traci was a loving mother, grandmother, Godmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and very special friend to many. Survivors include her significant other of seven years, Mike Rambo; daughter, Ashley (TJ) Werneburg and grandsons Mayson and Benjamin; son, Travis Hoch; father, Gary May; brother, Robert May and family; brother, Troy (JoLynn) May and family; sister, Tina (Chad) Harter and family; extended family members include Robin Mackle, Pam Davis and Kathy orey and several other relatives and friends. She as preceded in death by her mother, Linda Blackf ord; great aunt, Kay Sharpe, and her four grandparents.

Traci was a registered hild care provider and ran her own daycare busi- ess for more than 15 years. She worked as a CNA and a CMA and did in-home care. Traci influ- nced the lives of the oung and protected the dignity of the old. Traci volunteered her time at the Elks Lodge as kids coordinator and organized many fundraisers or those ith medic al condi- ions. Most recently, Traci worked for distribution in Ankeny where, even there, she continued to do for others.

Here is where she met Pastor Mark Austin with hom she shared her ope and spiritual jour- ey while attending Southtown Pentecostal A ssembly Church in Des Moines. Traci enjoyed camping, NASCAR, football, playing cards, watching Ellen, gardening, laughing and having fun with family and friends, and above all being with her children and grandchildren. Traci was so proud of her children, Ashley and Travis, and knew her biggest accomplishment in life was being a mother. When diagnosed with cancer, Traci simply said, is what it and began her fight. She knew we would get this Traci was known for her strength, her bravery, her compassion for others, her humor, her independence, er inner beauty and her sassiness.

She lived every oment of her life, brought great joy to eve ryone that knew her, and made a lasting impression in our hearts.
