BEH, JR. MABEL GILLETT Norwalk Mabel Gillett, 88, of Waterloo, died at Mercy Des Moines attended Lincoln High School. On February 23, 1946 she married the love of her life, Richard Davis. Darlene is survived by her daughter, Ladell (David) Lybarger; sons Rick (Laraine) Davis, Rodney (Linda) Davis and Daryl (Sue) Davis; nine grandchildren, Mark (Debbie) Hartzer, Melanie Hartzer, Cory Mitchell, Diane (Jeff) Allen, Raven Davis, Christa (Rob) Beller, Jeff (Maria) Davis, Matt (Kim) Davis, Jason (Allison) Davis and eleven great-grandchildren.

Darlene enjoyed traveling with family and friends and spending time at the South Side Senior Center. She was an avid doll collector and liked watching TV soaps and old time black and white movies. She loved to crochet and had won many awards at the Iowa State Fair. Darlene made afghans for every grandchild and great-grandchild when they were born. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

She farmed with her husband and then was business manager for Jane's Flowers Gifts, retiring in 1976. After retirement she served as a missionary in Ireland 1977 2009. Bud graduated from Notre Dame in 1949, during his tenure Notre Dame never lost a football game. He then attended the University of Michigan Law School, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi and graduated in 1952. Bud served in the U.S, Navy from 1952 to 1955, reaching the rank of Lieutenant. Upon completion of his military service, he married Mary Heald in Ann Arbor, Michigan on November 12, 1955.

Bud started his career as a lawyer in Des Moines and subsequently joined the Carleton D. Beh Company, an investment banking firm specializing in public finance established by his father, Carleton D. Beh, where he rose to the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The Carleton D. Beh Company was acquired by E.F.

Hutton Company in 1981 and Bud continued his investment banking career with E.F. Hutton and later with Piper Jaffray and Hopwood in Des Moines. Active in civic and charitable works, Bud served for over 20 years as a member and later the President of the Board of Directors of Orchard Place in Des Moines and was an Honorary Director at the time of his death. He also served for many years as a financial advisor to the Adrian Dominican Sisters, in Adrian, Michigan, and to St. Catherine of Siena Parish- the Newman Center at Drake University.

Bud is survived by his wife Mary, three children, James (Laura) of Washington, D.C., Katherine Beh Neas (Ralph Neas) of Bethesda, Maryland, and Thomas of New Orleans, Louisiana, and by four grandchildren. He was a man of honor, strength and compassion with an engaging sense of humor. A Visitation will be held at lies Funeral Homes, Dunn's Chapel, 2121 Grand Avenue, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustin Catholic Church, 545 42nd Street in Des Moines, at 10:30 am on Friday, March 22, 2013.

FLOYD "BOB" GARREN Des Moines Floyd "Bob" Garren, 90, died of natural causes at the VA Hospital on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Bob was born September 18, 1922 in Des Moines to Ray and Margaret (Meyers) Garren. He was a lifetime resident of Des Moines. After graduation from East High School in 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps.

Bob returned to Des Moines following his discharge and held several positions before settling on an 18 year career with the City of Des Moines. He retired in 1984. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, garage sales and his art. He also relished spending time with his friends at the Norwoodville Senior Center and Stover Heights. Bob is survived by his son, Errol Garren and his wife, Nancy of Laurel, MD; and his brother, James C.

After graduation from Steamboat Rock High School, Ernie served in the Navy aboard the USS Chicago in the Pacific. He was a graduate of CCCC Business College in Des Moines and went on to successfully manage Kruse Grain Company in Cleves, Iowa.

He was an active member of the Iowa Feed and Grain Association and was a founder and board member of United Suppliers. Ernie was active in his church and community. He loved his family and had special relationships with all of them. He and Eileen traveled the world but he may have been happiest along a trout stream in NE Iowa. Survivors include his wife of almost 62 years, Eileen of Ackley; a son Edwin (Yoko) of San Diego, California; a daughter Ellen (Dr.

Lance) Vanderloo of Waterloo; grandsons Chad (Allison) Weber of Marshall, Illinois and Dr. Rich Vanderloo or Portland, Oregon; granddaughters Brooke (Tyler) Knowles of Waunakee, Wisconsin and Aya Kruse of San Diego, California. He has four great grandsons, Thomas and Jacob Weber and Carter and Reid Knowles. Other survivors include a brother, Arnold (Beulah) Kruse of Jamestown, North Dakota and three sisters, Irene Espe of Cedar Rapids; Ruth Bleeker of Steamboat Rock; and Shirley (Al) Meester of Dike; sisters-in-law Lavonne Kruse, of Iowa Falls; Evelyn (Mervin) Reif-schnieder of Hubbard and Edith (Royce) Fichtner of Ankeny and many nieces, nephews and cousins. They were the parents of three children. She was employed by the Graham Group, Inc. for seventeen years, retiring in 2003. In 1995 she married Dennis Crabtree. They have enjoyed dancing, traveling to several different countries and around the United States, volunteering through the church and Lions, and taking tickets at Drake basketball games.

Linda was a member of Staves United Methodist Church. She was Treasurer of the UMW at Staves and participated in Church Women United. She received the Special Mission Recognition Award, and was a bell ringer for Staves. She was a member and Secretary of the Altoona Lions Club. She has received the Lions Warren Coleman Honorary Award, Progressive Warren Coleman Award and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award.

She attended several Lions International Conventions and the Lions USA Canada Forums. She was active in the Iowa Kidsight screening program and was a tissue relay transporter for the Iowa Lions. Linda is survived by her husband Dennis; son, Randy (Michele McBride) Turtle of Farmington, MO; daughter, Kelli (Marty) Mahlow of Ankeny; grandchildren: Cody Turtle of Sikeston, MO; Mallory and Mason Mahlow of Ankeny; her step-sons: Scott (Renee) of Pleasant Hill, MO, Lynn of Bothell WA, Trent of Kansas City, MO, and Rob of Mesa, AZ; 13 step-grandchildren: Stephen, Sam, Celeste (Brandon), Savannah (Sean), Cheyenne, Sutton, Victoria (Ross), Andrew, Jamie, Jennifer, Jacob, Adison, and Ava; one step-great-grandson, Liam; her sister-in-law, Dianna (John Ruley) Cooper of Norwalk; brothers-in-law: Roy (Sandra) of Ankeny, and Phil (Christy) of Cincinnati, OH; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families. She was preceded in death by her daughter, JoLynn Turtle; her parents, Blair and Eva Cooper; her brother, Ron Cooper; and mother and father-in-law, Roy and Hilda Crabtree. Linda was always there when needed; she didn't know how to say no.

HUSS Des Moines Carol Ann Huss, 73, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away March 20, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, after a long battle with breast cancer. She enjoyed taking long walks and cooking and baking for her large family.
