The Jeffries family is one of the oldest in the country, tracing their record in Pennsylvania back over a period of 125 years. The boy's (Bernard Jeffries) great grandfather fought in the revolutionary war, the grandfather in the war of 1812, and the father and his 4 brothers in the war for the Union (Civil War). There are now three brothers and three sisters of the young boy left out of eleven originally in the family.
